You must specify an address type and a unique address space for each sample gateway that you install. An address type is also known as an e-mail address generator. For more information about installing address types, see Installing Addressing Objects.

To create an EDK address type

  1. Open the Exchange System Manager.
  2. Click Recipients and select the E-Mail Address Generators node.
  3. Right-click this node and select New E-Mail Address Generator.
  4. Accept the default values to install an EDK address type.
  5. Click OK to exit.
  6. Close and restart the Exchange System Manager.

An address space defines the set of addresses to which a gateway can deliver messages. It consists of an address type and a wildcard address that represents the domain addresses that the gateway will service, such as *.microsoft.com.

To create an address space

  1. Open the Exchange System Manager.
  2. Expand the Connectors node.
  3. Right-click the new sample gateway and select Properties.
  4. Click the Address Space tab to bring up this property page.
  5. Click Add. A new dialog box, called Other Address Properties, will be displayed.
  6. For the Type, enter EDK. For the Cost, enter 1.
  7. For the Address, enter *@e2ksgw.com.
  8. Click OK to exit the Other Address Space Properties page.
  9. Click Apply. When the procedure finishes, click OK.
