The Sample Gateway consists of uncompiled code files. Before you can install the Sample Gateway, you must perform the following steps:
- Build the EDK components in the Exchange Software Development Kit (SDK). These components contain the functions necessary to compile the Sample Gateway components.
- Build the Sample Gateway components.
The Exchange SDK installs Sample Gateway files in its \Samples\E2K SGW source folder and subfolders. You must build the following files. For build instructions, see Building the Sample Gateway Components and Sample Applications:

Ipm_in.dll | Translates messages from RFC-822 to MAPI. | \IPM_IN |
Ipm_out.dll | Translates messages from MAPI to RFC-822. | \IPM_OUT |
Proxygen.dll | Proxy address generator. | \Sample Apps\ProxyGen |
Note You do not need to build the Proxygen.dll file if you plan to install the Sample Gateway on a Microsoft® Exchange 2000 Server client computer.
