The Sample Gateway consists of uncompiled code files. Before you can install the Sample Gateway, you must perform the following steps:

  1. Build the EDK components in the Exchange Software Development Kit (SDK). These components contain the functions necessary to compile the Sample Gateway components.
  2. Build the Sample Gateway components.

The Exchange SDK installs Sample Gateway files in its \Samples\E2K SGW source folder and subfolders. You must build the following files. For build instructions, see Building the Sample Gateway Components and Sample Applications:

Module Description Source Code Folder
Xlatinst.exe Address translation installer. \Xlatinst
Gwsample.exe Gateway service executable file. \GwSample
AddrType.ocx Used to install and remove Address Types (E-mail Address Generators). \Snap-Ins\Address Types
SgwAdmin.ocx Used to install, remove, and administer the Sample Gateway. \Snap-Ins\SGWAdmin
ExConnPp.ocx Provides additional property pages that can be reused for custom gateways. \Snap-Ins\ECPP

Note   You do not need to build the Proxygen.dll file if you plan to install the Sample Gateway on a Microsoft® Exchange 2000 Server client computer.
