The Address Space page allows you to set an address space for the gateway. This is the only setting on the Properties sheet that is not optional. You must specify at least one address space for each gateway that you install. See Creating an Address Type and Address Space for an example of setting the address space for the sample gateway.

You also use the Address Space page to set the scope for the address space.

To perform the following tasks, click the Address Space tab on the Properties page.

To add an address space

  1. Click the Add button located below the list box. A new dialog box, called Other Address Properties, will be displayed. This dialog box contains three fields:

Type: The address type to use. For example, SMTP.

Address: The form of domain address that the gateway will recognize. For example, *.e2kswg.com.

Cost: The cost of routing a message to this particular gateway, as opposed to alternate gateways. Usually set at 1.

  2. Click OK to return to the Address Space dialog box.

To modify an address space

  1. In the list box, click the address space you want to modify, then click Modify.
  2. The Other Address Space Properties dialog box will appear.
  3. Make your changes to the fields, and click OK.

To remove an address space

  1. In the list box, click the address space that you want to remove, then click Remove.

To set the scope of the address space

Under Connector scope:

  1. Select the Entire organization option button if you want the connector to apply this address space to messages sent to and from the entire organization.
  2. Select the Routing group button if you want the connector to apply this address space only to messages sent within the routing group to which the Microsoft® Exchange Server computer belongs.
