Gateway Components

Gateways consist of several components that are installed either in the Microsoft® Exchange 2000 Server environment or in Microsoft Active Directory®. Some of these are Microsoft Windows® applications that you must create. Some are data objects stored in Active Directory that you create using Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-ins. Other components are data objects that are automatically created for you by the applications you create. For example, proxy addresses are data objects that are created by the proxy generation dynamic-link library (DLL).
