A gateway must be able to address e-mail to users in both the Microsoft® Exchange Server system and the foreign system it serves. The gateway accomplishes this by mapping addresses between Exchange Server and the foreign system. The gateway must be able to map addresses in both directions to handle both incoming and outgoing messages.
