file collection
The process of copying specific files from SMS clients during software inventory. You can specify the files that SMS collects by using the SMS Administrator console, and SMS saves the collected files on the site server.

filter
In Network Monitor, user-specified restrictions on captured or displayed data.

frame
Also called a packet. A package of information transmitted as a single unit over a network. Every frame follows the same basic organization and contains control information, such as synchronizing characters, station address, an error-checking value, and a variable amount of data.
Frame Viewer window
The Network Monitor window that displays detailed information about individual frames that have been saved to a capture file. (Sometimes, this file is temporary.) You can open several Frame Viewer windows at one time.
