Assigning an Object to a Group

Groups are collections of components, repositories, or both, that have been combined for a particular purpose. The four different types of groups are categories, dependency groups, packages, and repository sets.

Groups are defined as objects; group membership is specified by the members. Components can declare membership in categories, dependency groups, and packages. Repositories can declare membership in packages and repository sets. The number of groups to which a component or repository can belong is unlimited.

To assign a component or a repository to a group

  1. In Windows XP Embedded Component Designer, in the SLD browser, expand the node for a platform.

  2. Expand the Components node or the Repositories node, depending on which type of object you are adding to a group.

  3. Expand the node for the component or repository.

  4. Right-click Group Memberships and choose Add Group Membership.

  5. In the dialog box that appears, select the group in which you want to assign membership and choose OK.

The group appears in the details pane.
