Keyword Dialog Box (Code Librarian)

This content is no longer actively maintained. It is provided as is, for anyone who may still be using these technologies, with no warranties or claims of accuracy with regard to the most recent product version or service release.

Use this dialog box to add searchable keywords for your code item. By associating your code item keywords, you can make it easier to find your code within the Code Librarian. The Keywords dialog box can be opened for editing by clicking the … button in the Properties window.

For information about opening the Code Librarian, see Opening the Code Librarian. The Properties window is open by default when you open the Code Librarian. If the Properties window has been closed, from the View menu, select Properties Window.

  • Keywords associated with this object
Used to specify the keyword or words associated with the code sample. The items in this field will be associated with the code item you selected before opening the Keyword dialog box.
  • <
Copies the selected keyword from the Keywords List into the associated keywords window. Associated keywords move from the Keyword List to the associated list; they do not become bold. This button is disabled if no keywords are selected.
  • >
Removes the currently selected keyword in the Keywords List box. If no keywords exist or none are selected, this button is disabled.
  • Keywords List
Contains the list of all available keywords in the code library database. Items listed in this field are not associated with the code item until you click the < button to move them to the Keywords associated with this object field. For a new library, this field is empty until you create new keywords.
  • Add a new word
Input for new keywords. When you create a new keyword, it is added to both the associated Keywords List and to the general list of keywords that are available in the code library.
  • New
Disabled if above text box is blank. When a new keyword is added using this button, it is added to the associated Keywords List and is then made available for other code items in the code library.
  • Edit
The edit button is enabled when a single keyword is selected in either the Keywords List or the Keywords associated with this object list. Clicking Edit opens an Edit Keyword dialog box in which the keyword can be edited. Changes made to the keyword will be applied to all instances of the keyword in the code library keyword lists.
  • Delete
The delete button is enabled when a single keyword is selected in either the Keywords List or the Keywords associated with this object list. If you delete the keyword from the available keywords list, the keyword will be removed from all items with which it is associated.
