Editing the Enterprise Global Template
After you install mySAP™ ERP and the Microsoft Office Project Server 2003 components, you need to create the related enterprise text and outline code fields in the Enterprise Global template in order to use the ERP Connector Solution Starter.
To edit the Enterprise Global template:
Open Microsoft Office Project Professional 2003 and connect to the Project Server database you are going to use.
On the Tools menu, click Enterprise Options, and then click Open Enterprise Global. Project Professional checks out the Enterprise Global template, opens it as a new (blank) project, and displays the Gantt Chart view.
On the Tools menu, click Customize, and then click Enterprise Fields.
Make a table of the custom fields and outline codes you need for the ERP Connector modules you plan to use. For examples, see Example for the HR Module and Example for the Finance Projects and WBS Modules. For more information, see the following field mapping tables:
- For the human resources (HR) module, see Field Mapping for the HR Module for the ProcessHRDataSAP PDS extension.
- For the internal orders and project/task cost accounting modules, see Field Mapping for the Finance Projects Module for the ProjectCreateSAP PDS extension.
In the Customize Enterprise Fields dialog box, click the Custom Fields tab, click Resource, and then click Text in the Type list. Rename the resource enterprise text fields you need. Figure 1 shows fields for the HR module example.
Figure 1. Customizing enterprise fields for resources
Click the Custom Outline Codes tab, and then click Resource.
- Rename the outline codes you need.
- For each outline code you renamed, click Define Code Mask.
- In the Outline Code Definition dialog box, choose the Sequence, Length, and Separator values as shown in the example tables (Figure 2), and then click OK.
Figure 2. Customizing enterprise outline codes for resources
In the Customize Enterprise Fields dialog box, when you have finished editing, click OK. On the File menu, click Save to save the Enterprise Global template.
Quit and then and then restart Project Professional so that the changes take effect.
To set the same enterprise text fields and outline codes that you renamed in the Enterprise Global template, use the ERP Connector administration page. For more information, see Using the Administration Page.
Example Custom Fields and Outline Codes
The following tables show examples of how to rename the Enterprise Text fields and Enterprise Outline Codes for the ERP Connector modules.
Note These are examples only. Your Enterprise Global template will likely require that you use a different set of fields and outline codes because your organization already uses some of them. You do not need to use custom fields and outline codes sequentially.
Example for the HR Module
Table 1 assumes your organization already uses the following: Resource Enterprise Text fields 1 through 6, and Resource Enterprise Outline Codes 1 through 14. The mySAP ERP Organization Unit ID is an 8-digit integer.
Table 1. Example enterprise text and enterprise outline codes for the HR module
mySAP ERP data | Field type | Field or outline code name | Rename | Code mask |
---|---|---|---|---|
SAP Resource ID | Resource | Enterprise Text7 | SAP Resource ID | |
Manager Flag | Resource | Enterprise Text8 | SAP Manager | |
Organization Unit ID | Resource | Enterprise Resource Outline Code15 | SAP Organization Unit | Sequence: Numbers Length:8 Separator: . |
Using the same example, set the following in the HR Module section of the ERP Connector administration page:
Set SAP Resource ID to Resource Enterprise Text7.
Set IS Manager to Resource Enterprise Text8.
Set Organization Unit ID to Enterprise Resource Outline Code15.
Note If you keep the Project resource breakdown structure (RBS) synchronized with the mySAP ERP organization structure, you can assign the Organization Unit ID field to the RBS (Enterprise Resource Outline Code30).
Example for the Finance Projects and WBS Modules
Table 2 assumes your organization already uses the following fields: Resource Enterprise Text fields 1 through 6, Project Enterprise Text fields 1 through 16, and Task Enterprise Text fields 1 through 3. The Finance Projects and WBS modules do not use outline codes for the ERP Connector.
Table 2. Example enterprise text and enterprise outline codes for the Finance Projects and WBS modules
mySAP ERP data | Field type | Field or outline code name | Rename |
---|---|---|---|
SAP Project ID | Project | Enterprise Project Text17 | SAP Project ID |
Responsible Number | Project | Enterprise Project Text18 | SAP Responsible No. |
Plant ID | Project | Enterprise Project Text19 | SAP Plant ID |
Order ID | Task | Enterprise Text4 | SAP Order ID |
WBS Element ID | Task | Enterprise Text5 | SAP WBS Element ID |
SAP Task ID | Task | Enterprise Text6 | SAP Task ID |
SAP Resource ID | Resource | Enterprise Text7 | SAP Resource ID |
Using the same example, set the following in the Finance WBS Module and the Finance Projects Module on the ERP Connector administration page:
- Set SAP Project ID to Task Enterprise Project Text17.
- Set Responsible Number to Task Enterprise Project Text18.
- Set Plant ID to Task Enterprise Project Text19.
- Set Order ID to Task Enterprise Text4.
- Set WBS Element ID to Task Enterprise Text5.
- Set SAP Task ID to Task Enterprise Text6.
- Set SAP Resource ID to Resource Enterprise Text7.
