View the Office Project Column Mappings

You can understand how data in your office project plan maps to work items in Team Foundation by viewing the Office Project column mappings. The mappings identify which Office Project column maps to a field in Team Foundation. You can use this information if you work with both Office Project and Team Explorer and want to understand where published field data appears in Team Explorer. You can also use this information if you plan to modify the field mappings and want to see the current mappings.

Required Permissions

To perform these procedures, you must be a member of the Readers group or have your View Project-level information permissions set to Allow. For more information, see Team Foundation Server Permissions.

To view how Office Project columns are mapped to Team Foundation work item fields

  1. In Office Project, on the Team menu, click View Column Mappings.

    Note

The mapping between work item fields and Office Project is specific to a team project. You can change the field mapping in the team project at any time.

  2. Review how work item fields are mapped to Office Project and determine whether you must make changes. If you decide to make changes, see Field Mappings in Microsoft Project.
