How to: Customize an Application with SharePoint Designer 2007

Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007 provides you with professional quality design tools to create applications for the Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 platform, including Microsoft Office Live Small Business applications. Because Office Live Small Business applications and workspaces are built upon Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, SharePoint Designer 2007 can also be used to customize these applications. Some customizations of Office Live Small Business applications and workspaces, such as configuring workflows, are available only through SharePoint Designer 2007, though some customizations do not work on Office Live Small Business applications. For more information, see About Customizing with SharePoint Designer 2007.

To customize an application or workspace in Office SharePoint Designer
  1. In Office SharePoint Designer 2007, on the File menu, click Open Site.

  2. Type the URL that appears in the address bar of your browser when you are in an application or workspace. For example, let's say you want to edit a page in your domain contoso.com. If the Office Live Small Business subscription associated with this domain started as a Microsoft Office Live beta subscription, your URL is in this format: https://contoso.officelive.com. If this subscription started as an Office Live Small Business subscription, your URL is in this format: https://contosocom.officelive.com.

  3. When prompted, provide your Windows Live ID credentials.

    Note
