Target Device Connectivity Options: Download Service Dialog Box

When you choose the Settings button associated with the Download field on the Target Device Connectivity Options: Kernel Services Tab after selecting a download service that requires configuration, Platform Builder displays a dialog box where you can configure the download service.

Selecting any one of the following download services displays a dialog box for configuring the download service:

  • Device Emulator Download Settings
  • Ethernet Download Settings
  • Serial Download Settings

Device Emulator Download Settings

This dialog box allows you to specify properties for the Device Emulator.

  • General Tab
    Allows you to specify a host key used for special functionality, and to specify a folder that the emulator shares with the host workstation.
  • Display Tab
    Allows you to specify a path to an emulator skin.

    Allows you to specify the screen size and color depth you want. Using the wrong screen size can cause possible errors in the Device Emulator. **

    Allows you to indicate the degree of rotation, or orientation, shown in the display.

    Allows you to specify preferences such as zoom, tooltips, and foreground status.

  • Network Tab
    Defines whether the Device Emulator supports an Ethernet NIC, or a virtual PCMCIA adapter. Choose Enable CS8900 network adapter and bind to: to support Ethernet connection and to be able to boot the Device Emulator.
  • Peripherals Tab
    Allows you to map virtual serial ports to actual COM ports on the development workstation.

    Allows you to choose to Create a text console window for serial port 1, which displays serial debug output that might occur before the KITL connection is active.

  • OK
    Validates and saves the settings for the Emulator download service, and then returns to the KernelService Map tab.
  • Cancel
    Cancels changes you made to the settings for the Emulator download service and closes the dialog box without saving changes.

Ethernet Download Settings

This dialog box allows you to specify settings for the Ethernet download service.

  • Device Boot Name
    Displays the target device that you selected in the Available Devices box.
  • Available Devices
    Allows you to select a target device to which to download a run-time image.
  • OK
    Validates and saves the settings for the Ethernet download service, and then returns to the KernelService Map tab.
  • Cancel
    Cancels any changes you made to the settings for the Ethernet download service and closes the dialog box without saving any of the changes.

Serial Download Settings

This dialog box allows you to specify settings for the serial download service.

  • COM Port
    Displays the port to use for serial communication.
  • Baud Rate
    Displays the baud rate for the serial connection.
  • Data Bits
    Specifies the number of data bits.
  • Parity
    Specifies the parity of the serial connection, if any.
  • Flow Control
    Specifies whether you want to use hardware for flow control.
  • Stop Bits
    Specifies the number of stop bits.
  • OK
    Validates and saves the settings for the serial download service, and then returns to the KernelService Map tab.
  • Cancel
    Cancels changes you made to the settings for the serial download service and closes the dialog box without saving changes.
