Windows Embedded CE offers a variety of design templates that implement a wide selection of Catalog items. Using a design template to create an OS design allows you to quickly create an OS design that you can then customize to meet the needs of your target device. Alternately, you can create an OS design without using a design template by manually selecting the necessary Catalog items from the Catalog.

This section provides step-by-step instructions for developing a target device both by using a design template, and without a design template. It also provides step-by-step instructions for developing some specific target devices.
