FIND (Report Builder)

Position of the first instance of a substring.

Syntax

FIND(string, substring)

string

Specifies the string that contains the substring for which to search.

substring

Specifies the substring to locate.

Remarks

  • If the string is not found, a zero is returned.

Example

Formula Result

FIND("A light yet stiff aluminum bar for long distance riding.", "aluminum bar")

Returns the number of character spaces within the string that the substring begins. In this example, 19.

FIND(Description, "aluminum")

Returns a list of values that indicates the number of character spaces within the string that the substring begins, similar to the following:
