How to: Get Help for Visual SourceSafe Commands

When working on the command line, you can launch the Visual SourceSafe Help viewer for a description of a Visual SourceSafe command. The description will include a command definition, the options that the command supports, and an example of command use.

To get help for a command:

  1. Open an MS-DOS command window.

  2. Set the SSDIR and SSUSER environment variables, as described in Setting Database Options.

  3. On the command line, type "ss Help" or "ss /?" to get a list of the commands that are available from the command line.

  4. For help on a specific command, type "ss Help <command>".
