Where to Obtain the .NET Framework Redistributable Package

Download the most recent version of the .NET Framework redistributable package from the MSDN Download Center. If you want to direct users to the Internet to install the .NET Framework, do not post the installation package. Instead, direct users to the MSDN Download Center.

Note

The redistributable package is the setup file that contains the runtime elements for the .NET Framework. You can download the latest redistributable package from the .NET Framework version 3.5 Service Pack 1 (SP1) download page.

Licensed Distribution

If you choose to distribute the .NET Framework with an application created by you, you must have a validly licensed copy of the Windows Software Development Kit (SDK) or Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, and you must agree that any use or distribution of the .NET Framework associated with your licensed product (as "Licensed Product" is defined in the Microsoft Software License Terms) is subject to the license terms. If you do not have a validly licensed copy of the Windows SDK or Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, or you do not agree to these terms and conditions, you are not authorized to distribute the .NET Framework, and your use of the .NET Framework is subject to the license terms you accepted when you installed the .NET Framework. To read the license terms, see the license.htm file in the License folder of the Windows SDK installation directory, or see the eula.txt file in the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 installation directory. In the installation directory, you can also find a redist.txt file that lists the files that can be redistributed under that license.
