How to: Change What Is Displayed When Visual Studio Starts

You can change the UI that appears by default when you start Visual Studio.

Note

The options available in dialog boxes, and the names and locations of menu commands you see, might differ from what is described in Help depending on your active settings or edition. This Help page was written with General Development Settings in mind. To change your settings, choose Import and Export Settings on the Tools menu. For more information, see Working with Settings.

To change the default UI displayed when you start Visual Studio

  1. On the Tools menu, choose Options.

  2. Expand Environment and then choose Startup.

  3. From the At startup drop-down list, choose one of the options. For more information, see Startup, Environment, Options Dialog Box.

  4. Click OK.

    Your changes take affect the next time you start Visual Studio.
