Move and Rename

Moving and renaming are often overlooked in change management systems – the lack of this functionality makes your version control structure too rigid to accommodate even the smallest change to your project structure.

Team Foundation Server enables you to move assets from one part of the version control structure to another, as illustrated in Figure 1. This helps you account for changes happening after you have set up the initial project structure definition. Team Foundation Server makes changing your project’s structure seamless and easy.

Team Foundation Server also enables you to easily rename any aspect of your project structure, as easily as renaming a folder in Windows Explorer.

Moving and renaming assets in Team Foundation Server helps keep your project structure maintainable and intuitive for the entire team.
