Make sure you are running a Silverlight-compatible Windows operating system and browser. - Download
Click on the link above to download the Silverlight 1.1 Alpha (after you accept the license terms)
For Microsoft Internet Explorer users: The browser will prompt you to either run or save the installation file (Silverlight.1.1Alpha.exe). Click Run to start the download. When the download is finished, the browser prompts you again to verify that you want to run the installer. Click Run to start the installation. Note that you must have sufficient administrative privileges to install Silverlight. | For Mozilla Firefox users: Save Silverlight.1.1Alpha.exe to your hard disk. Once the download is finished, click Open. The installation starts. |
- Install Silverlight
- The Silverlight 1.1 Alpha installer installs automatically.
- If you are running the Windows Vista operating system, you will be prompted for additional security permissions. To continue, you need to approve.
- The installer then continues the installation. After a successful completion in Internet Explorer, the browser page will be automatically updated. In Firefox, you will need to restart the browser.
- You can now start using Silverlight
- Verify your installation by experiencing Silverlight.
Visit the Microsoft Silverlight site to verify your installation and start experiencing Silverlight content.

Click on the link above to download the Silverlight 1.1 Alpha for Mac (after you accept the license terms).
For Apple Safari users: Once the download is finished, the browser will warn you that Silverlight.1.1alpha.dmg contains an application. To proceed with the installation, click Continue. | For Mozilla Firefox users: Save Silverlight.1.1alpha.dmg to your hard disk. Once the download is finished, click Open. Double-click Silverlight.1.1alpha.pkg. |
- Install Silverlight.
- The installer will warn you that “This package contains a program that determines if the software can be installed.” Click Continue.
- On the Introduction page, click Continue.
- On the Select Destination page, select the destination volume for Silverlight, and then click Continue.
- On the Installation Type page, click Install.
- You will be prompted to authenticate. Enter your Administrator user name and password. Click OK to continue.
- On the Finish Up page, click Close to exit the installer.
- Restart your browser.
Some browsers must be restarted before activating new plug-ins. Restart your browser to complete the installation. - Verify your installation by experiencing Silverlight.
Visit the Microsoft Silverlight site to verify your installation and experience Silverlight content.
