Keyboard Shortcuts (Distributed System Designers)

The following tables list the keyboard shortcuts that can be used for navigation and editing while working with the Distributed System Designers:

You can view and customize keyboard shortcuts from the Tools, Options, Environment, Keyboard menu options.

List of Keyboard Shortcuts

Action

Shortcut

Toggle selection of an application, logical server, endpoint, or connection that has focus.

SPACE

Cancel the current selection or cell editing if in cell edit mode.

ESC

Select all the shapes on the design surface.

CTRL+A

Move shape up one grid increment.

If in a field or subfield, move to the previous sibling field or subfield.

UP ARROW

Move shape down one grid increment.

If in a field or subfield, move to the next sibling subfield.

DOWN ARROW

Move shape left one grid increment.

If in a field or subfield, move to the previous sibling subfield.

LEFT ARROW

Move shape right one grid increment.

If in a field or subfield, move to the next sibling subfield.

RIGHT ARROW

Decrease the height of the shape by one grid increment.

If on a field or subfield which can be resized, decrease the height of the field or subfield by one unit.

SHIFT+UP ARROW

Increase the height of the shape by one grid increment.

If on a field or subfield which can be resized, increase the height of the field or subfield by one unit.

SHIFT+DOWN ARROW

Reduce the width of the shape by one grid increment.

SHIFT+LEFT ARROW

Increase the width of the shape by one grid increment.

SHIFT+RIGHT ARROW

Move focus and selection to the first shape on the design surface at the same peer level, or to the zone in which it is contained.

HOME

Move focus and selection to the last shape on the design surface at the same peer level, or to the zone in which it is contained.

END

Move focus to the first shape on the design surface at the same peer level, or to the zone in which it is contained.

CTRL+HOME

Move focus to the last shape on the design surface at the same peer level, or to the zone in which it is contained.

CTRL+END

Move focus and selection to the next shape on the design surface at the same peer level.

TAB

Move focus and selection to the previous shape on the design surface at the same peer level.

SHIFT+TAB

Move focus to the next shape on the design surface at the same peer level.

CTRL+ALT+TAB

Move focus to the previous shape on the design surface at the same peer level.

CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+TAB

Move focus and selection to the next shape on the design surface one level higher in the hierarchy. If there are no shapes above this shape in the hierarchy (i.e. the shape is placed directly on the design surface), the diagram is selected.

Move focus and selection to the next contained shape on the design surface one level below in the hierarchy.

Move focus to the next shape on the design surface one level higher in the hierarchy. If there are no shapes above this shape in the hierarchy (i.e. the shape is placed directly on the design surface), the diagram is selected.

CTRL+<

Move focus to the next contained shape on the design surface one level below in the hierarchy.

CTRL+>

Move selection and focus from the selected port to the port to which it is connected.

SHIFT+END

Move focus to the port which the currently selected port is connected to.

CTRL+SHIFT+END

Delete an application, logical server, zone, endpoint, or connection from the diagram. Also deletes underlying code (if it exists).

DEL

Scroll the design surface up.

PG UP

Scroll the design surface down.

PG DOWN

Scroll the design surface to the right.

SHIFT+PG UP

Scroll the design surface to the left.

SHIFT+PG DOWN

Expand currently selected node in the Settings and Constraints Editor.

+ (Keypad only)

Collapse currently selected node in the Settings and Constraints Editor.

- (Keypad only)

Expands the currently selected node and all child nodes in the Settings and Constraints Editor.

* (Keypad only)

Enter edit mode

F2

Display selected item’s shortcut menu
