Advanced Check Out Options Dialog Box (Plug-in)

Provides additional options that you can set to determine how a SourceSafe plug-in for Visual Studio checks out files.

Dialog Box Access

In Visual Studio, access the Check Out for Edit dialog box, and click Advanced.

  • Allow multiple checkouts
    Specifies if the plug-in should allow checkouts for items that are already checked out.
  • Don't get local copy
    Specifies that the check out operation should not retrieve local copies. Selecting this option disables the Replace writable and Set time boxes.

    Note

    Selection of this option can cause Visual Studio to incorrectly display the status of source-controlled items.

  • Replace writable
    Specifies the effect of a checkout operation on items that are already marked as writable in your working folder. Possible options are:

    Option Description

    Default

    Uses as a default the option chosen in the Check Out for Edit dialog box.

    Ask

    Prompts for each file that corresponds to a writable file on your local disk.

    Replace

    Replaces local writable files with those checked out from the database.

    Skip

    Does not check out database files corresponding to local writable files.

    Merge

    Automatically attempts to merge the local and database file versions.

  • Set time
    Associates a time with the checkout. Possible options are:

    Default

    Uses the default setting for the database. This setting is made on the Local Files tab of the SourceSafe Options dialog box.

    Current

    Specifies the current date and time.

    Modification

    Specifies the date and time when the item was last saved.

    Check In

    Specifies the date and time of check-in.
