Microsoft Silverlight will reach end of support after October 2021. Learn more.

Gets the default calendar used by the culture.

Namespace:  System.Globalization
Assembly:  mscorlib (in mscorlib.dll)

Syntax

'Declaration
Public Overridable ReadOnly Property Calendar As Calendar
public virtual Calendar Calendar { get; }

Property Value

Type: System.Globalization.Calendar
An object that represents the default calendar used by the culture.

Remarks

The user might choose to override some of the values associated with the current system culture. For example, the user might choose to display the date in a different format or to use a currency other than the default for the culture. The CultureInfo object that represents the current system culture always reflects those overrides. Therefore, the value of this property might be different from the default calendar that is commonly used by the culture.

To change the calendar used by a specified CultureInfo object, set the DateTimeFormatInfo.Calendar property that is returned by the CultureInfo object's DateTimeFormat property. The new calendar must be one of the calendars included in the OptionalCalendars array.
