This documentation describes the Microsoft® Windows Media® Device Manager Software Development Kit (SDK).

The Windows Media Device Manager SDK is a component of the Microsoft Windows Media Software Development Kit. Other components include the Windows Media Format SDK, the Windows Media Services SDK, the Windows Media Encoder SDK, the Windows Media Rights Manager SDK, and the Windows Media Player SDK.

The Windows Media Device Manager ** SDK is designed to help developers create components that allow applications based on the Windows Media Format SDK to interact with various portable audio players by transferring audio files and manipulating how those files are stored.

The key features of the Windows Media Device Manager SDK are:

  • Support for using digital rights management and other Windows Media Technologies when transferring audio files from a media player to a portable audio player.
  • Support for enumerating storage capabilities of portable audio players.
