Remote Registry Access

On Windows XP Embedded-based computers, by default, only administrators and backup operators have access to the registry across a network. You can define the users and groups that can access the registry remotely, or you can specify the registry keys that can be accessed remotely.

Note   Some applications or services require remote registry access, for example the Spooler service for network printers, and the Directory Replicator. You can enable access for the account under which the service runs, or you can enable access to the registry keys that the service or application requires.

For more information about configuring remote registry access, see this Microsoft Web site.
