Remote Registry Editor

Remote Registry Editor displays the registry for a target device and enables you to add, delete, and modify registry keys and registry entries. To display the registry for a target device in the Remote Registry Editor tool, you must first connect to the target device with Platform Manager. For more information about connecting to a target device with Platform Manager, see Application Connectivity.

The registry for a target device resides in the object store on the target device. Remote Registry Editor allows you to manage the registry on a target device from your development workstation.

The Remote Registry Editor window displays a My Computer top-level registry heading for the desktop computer and a top-level registry heading for each target device to which the tool is connected.

The following table shows some examples of the registry subtrees for a target device that Remote Registry Editor may display.

Registry subtree Description
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT Associates files with applications
HKEY_CURRENT_USER Contains information about the user currently logged on to a target device
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Contains information about the settings for a target device
