Applications on Windows Mobile-based Smartphones can use message boxes to display notifications and prompt the user for input. The message box expands to full screen with the input options located on the soft key bar.

Full-screen notifications

When designing notifications for your application, keep the following in mind:

  • You can associate sounds with reminder notifications and clock alarms.
  • Reminders must be dismissed or postponed by a user. If the user doesn't take action, the associated sound is repeated at 20-second intervals.
  • If the user dismisses one of several reminders, the associated sound stops for the other reminders but they remain on the screen.
  • The user is not able to navigate elsewhere on the device when a reminder is on the screen. Pressing the HOME hardware button has no effect.
