Windows NT Embedded 4.0 Overview

Windows NT Embedded 4.0 is a tool set that enables you to tailor the Windows NT operating system to meet the requirements of your embedded system hardware and software.

Using Windows NT Embedded tools, you can select the appropriate Windows NT components, build custom components, generate a bootable target operating system, and then put your target system on your hardware.

Windows NT Embedded 4.0 is comprised of the following tools:

  • Target Designer

    The primary authoring tool in Windows NT Embedded. Using Target Designer, you can create, customize, and build a bootable target operating system.

  • Component Designer

    The companion tool to Target Designer. Using Component Designer, you create custom components you want to add to the Target Designer System Database.
