Using Status Messages
Microsoft® Systems Management Server (SMS) components generate status messages to report component activities that influence the overall health of the site and the site hierarchy. Although user-defined status messages (those messages generated by client applications) are not used to determine the health of the site, it is important that all clients use the same mechanism for reporting messages. This allows the administrators to view all the messages using the Status Message Viewer.
