Class Schema Reference

The Systems Management Server (SMS) class schema is a set of Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) classes that represent the objects in SMS. Each SMS class is a template for a managed object and all instances of the object use the template. Classes can contain properties and methods: the properties describe the class data, and the methods typically perform data management for the class. The following table describes the categories of classes and how the classes are used.

Category Description
Supporting Unrelated classes that support more than one category of classes or that share additional information with the SMS Provider.
Scheduling Embedded classes that you use to define schedules for SMS components and tasks.
Resource Management Classes that define and manage the system resources — hardware, software, users and user groups — within your SMS hierarchy.
Software Distribution Classes that manage the distribution of software across one or more sites in your SMS hierarchy.
Collection Classes that let you logically divide the resources of your organization.
Status Classes that contain summary and detailed status information for SMS components. You can also use these classes to create user-defined status messages.
Site Configuration Classes that manage the configuration of the installed SMS site and components.
Security Classes that ensure the integrity of the SMS database.
Association Classes that logically relate two classes or the instances of two classes.
