Edge Proxy Server

An edge proxy server is a proxy server that is positioned on the edge of an intranet and connects to an origin server through the Internet. An edge proxy server is not bound to any other proxy server. It must therefore attempt to resolve a request for content by streaming the content from a local cache, proxying from the origin server, or redirecting the client. It cannot submit the request directly to another proxy server.
