Business Data Search
With the help of the Business Data Catalog, the Enterprise Search in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 can gather, index, and offer full-text search on all business data (entity instances) from applications registered in the Business Data Catalog.
For example, if you register the AdventureWorks SQL Server 2000 sample database in the Business Data Catalog, Enterprise Search can crawl it and return customer data in search results. In addition, the Enterprise Search feature’s extensibility enables you to create customized search experiences. For example, you can create a Customer Center tab in the Search Center where your users can search for customers in the AdventureWorks database, and you can create a custom UI for the search results.
