Troubleshooting Team Foundation Server Fail-Over

After activating the standby application-tier, the clients can experience a delay in service while the DNS change is propagated. The client users can take additional steps to force the applications to use the appropriate connection. You can use the following information to recover operations.

SQL Server Reporting Services Home Page

If you cannot view the SQL Server Reporting Services home page, you might have to clear the cookies and offline content.

To reset Internet Explorer

  1. Open Internet Explorer.

  2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

  3. On the General tab, click Delete Cookies, and then click Delete Files.

  4. In the Delete Files dialog box, click Delete all offline content, and then click OK.

  5. In the Address box, type the URL for SQL Server Reporting Services by using the virtual server name, and then click Go.

    The URL for the services for virtual server TFS_AT is https://TFS_AT/Reports.

Team Explorer

After activating the standby application-tier, the client application might experience unexpected results.

Team Explorer Tries to Connect to the Previous Application-Tier Server Name

The DNS cache may not have the correct server name. You must clear the cache.

To reset Internet Explorer

  1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.

  2. In the Command Prompt window, type ipconfig /flushdns.

  3. In Team Explorer, re-connect to the application-tier server.

Team Explorer Does Not Update All the Team Project Nodes

If the project nodes are not correctly updated, you must log off your computer and log on again.

To update the connection for Team Explorer

  1. Click Start, click Logoff.

  2. At the Log Off Windows prompt, click OK.

  3. Log on to the computer.

Team Foundation Build

You might have to restart the Team Foundation Build Service to use the build computer.

To update the connection for Team Foundation Build

  1. On the Team Foundation BuildĀ computer, open the Services manager.

  2. Locate the Team Build Service, right-click the service, and then click Restart.
