How to: Restore Team Foundation Server Data to a Different Server

You can restore Team Foundation Server data from one Team Foundation data-tier server to another. For example, you might want to move the Team Foundation data-tier server to a new server when you upgrade your computers or if the original server fails. This is the exact same process as moving an Team Foundation Server from one hardware environment to another. Required Permissions

To perform these procedures, you must be a member of the following groups:

  • Administrators group on the Team Foundation data-tier server and the Team Foundation application-tier server

  • Team Foundation Administrators group

  • Windows SharePoint Services Site Administrator group

  • SQL Server Administrator group on the Team Foundation data-tier server

Moving the Team Foundation Data-Tier Server

In order to restore data to a new Team Foundation data-tier server, you must move the Team Foundation Server from one set of hardware to another.
