  • Use online Help as primary source
Choose this option to use MSDN online and Codezone Community Web sites as your first choice for Help. When you press F1, Help displays the latest version of the topic found on MSDN online. For Search, results from online sources are listed first.

If you are not connected to the Internet and you have installed Help locally, Help displays local Help topics for F1 and Search, as well as displays the local Index and Contents.

  • Use local Help as primary source
Choose this option to use Help installed on your local computer as your first choice for Help. If you press F1, Help displays the local Help topic for the item. For search, results from local Help are listed first, but results from online sources are also available.

If Help cannot be found locally and you are connected to the Internet, you can find online sources of Help.

Choose this option if you do not want to include Help from any online sources. If local Help is not installed, no product documentation is available.
