Distributor.SystemName Property

Gets or sets the name of the server on which the distributor runs.

Namespace: Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Nmo
Assembly: Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo (in microsoft.sqlserver.smo.dll)

Syntax

'Declaration
Public Property SystemName As String
public string SystemName { get; set; }
public:
property String^ SystemName {
    String^ get ();
    void set (String^ value);
}
/** @property */
public String get_SystemName ()

/** @property */
public void set_SystemName (String value)
public function get SystemName () : String

public function set SystemName (value : String)

Property Value

A String of up to 256 characters that specifies the name of the server on which the distributor runs.

Remarks

The following values are not allowed: "localhost", ".", an IP address, or any string containing a backslash character.

In Notification Services Standard Edition, the system name for all hosted event providers, the generator, and distributor must be identical. In other supported editions, the system names can be different, meaning that instance components can be distributed across multiple computers.

If your application uses multiple distributors, you must specify a different system name for each distributor. If multiple application distributors have the same system name, Notification Services returns an error when you try to create or update the instance of Notification Services.

Example

The following examples show how to create a distributor, define the distributor's properties, and then add it to an application:

// Define distributor for application
Distributor distributor =
    new Distributor(myApplication, "Distributor");
distributor.SystemName = notificationServicesHost;
distributor.QuantumDuration = new TimeSpan(0, 0, 15);
distributor.ThreadPoolSize = 2;
myApplication.Distributors.Add(distributor);
' Define distributor for application
Dim distributor As Distributor = New Distributor( _
    myApplication, "Distributor")
distributor.SystemName = notificationServicesHost
distributor.QuantumDuration = New TimeSpan(0, 0, 15)
distributor.ThreadPoolSize = 2
myApplication.Distributors.Add(distributor)

Thread Safety

Any public static (Shared in Microsoft Visual Basic) members of this type are thread safe. Any instance members are not guaranteed to be thread safe.
