How to: Create Labels
You can create labels in several ways:
Create a simple label using the Label Wizard.
A wizard is the easiest way to start creating a label. You can also install default label definitions, or templates, using the Label Wizard.
Create a custom label or modify an existing label using the Label Designer.
Label Designer begins the label design process with a blank label layout. The Label Designer and Report Designer are similar in functionality but differ in the default page and paper they use.
You can modify any label layout file you create with the Label Designer.
Creating Labels Using the Label Wizard
You can create labels easily by using the Label Wizard. The Label Wizard helps you set up and create a label layout using your answers to a series of questions.
Note
The first time you run the Label Wizard, it prompts you to install default label templates. This operation is performed only when you run the wizard for the first time.
To start the Label Wizard
Open the project for your application.
In the Project Manager, expand the Documents node.
In the Documents node, click Labels and then New.
In the New Label dialog box, click Label Wizard.
Follow the instructions on the wizard screens.

You can also start wizards by clicking Wizards on the Tools menu and selecting a wizard. After you create a layout using a wizard, you customize the layout using the Label Designer.
Creating Labels Using the Label Designer
You can create custom labels by starting with a blank label layout in the Label Designer.
Note
The Label Designer and Report Designer are similar in functionality but differ in the default page layout definition use. The Label Designer also provides the ability to associate label templates with the Designer, so you can subdivide a page layout into predefined label sections. If the Label Designer does not provide you with a choice of label templates when you create a new label, run the Label Wizard to install them.
To start the Label Designer
Open the project for your application.
In the Project Manager, expand the Documents node.
In the Documents node, click Labels and then New.
In the New Label dialog box, click New Label.
The Label Designer opens.

You can also start a new blank label from the File menu by clicking New and in the New dialog box, click Label and then New File.
