Accessing Business Desk

Commerce Server Business Desk hosts business management modules that you use to configure, manage, and analyze your sites. For example, you use Business Desk modules to create multilingual catalogs, update pricing information in your catalogs in multiple currencies, target new advertisements to specific users, and then run reports to measure how these changes affect site productivity.

Business Desk includes targeted, role-based security, which means that Business Desk users can view and manage only those modules for which they are authorized, and they can perform only the specific tasks for which they are authorized.

To access the Business Desk

  • On the Project menu, point to Commerce Server Project, and then click Business Desk.

  • When you use Business Desk in Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, and you want to import an XML catalog file that is on your local computer or a remote client, you must do one of the following:
    • Move the local file to the server, and then import the XML file on the server.
    • Run Business Desk outside of Visual Studio .NET, and import the XML catalog file.
    • Change your security settings in Internet Explorer to enable or prompt for running unsafe components, and then import the XML catalog file from the local computer. This option is not recommended because it compromises the security of your computer.
