XmlElementAttributes.ICollection.IsSynchronized Property

Microsoft Silverlight will reach end of support after October 2021. Learn more.

Gets a value that indicates whether access to the attribute collection is synchronized (thread safe).

Namespace:  System.Xml.Serialization
Assembly:  System.Xml.Serialization (in System.Xml.Serialization.dll)

Syntax

'Declaration
Private ReadOnly Property IsSynchronized As Boolean
    Implements ICollection.IsSynchronized
bool ICollection.IsSynchronized { get; }

Property Value

Type: System.Boolean
true if the collection is synchronized (thread safe); otherwise, false.

Implements

ICollection.IsSynchronized

Remarks

Enumerating through a collection is intrinsically not a thread-safe procedure. Even when a collection is synchronized, other threads can still modify the collection, which causes the enumerator to throw an exception. To guarantee thread safety during enumeration, you can either lock the collection during the entire enumeration or catch the exceptions resulting from changes made by other threads

Note that when an interface method is explicitly implemented, it is no longer visible as a public member of the class. The only way to access it is through the interface.
