SourceSafe Options Dialog Box, View Tab (Explorer)

Specifies display options for Visual SourceSafe Explorer components, including the file and project lists.

Dialog Box Access

In Visual SourceSafe Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Options, then View.

  • Always use MS-DOS format filenames
Specifies if Visual SourceSafe should truncate the long file names that are supported on 32-bit platforms, to accommodate the narrow Name column in the file list. This option is useful if client machines are running Visual SourceSafe Explorer on different operating systems.
  • Automatically refresh file list
Specifies if Visual SourceSafe should automatically refresh the file list to keep information displayed in Visual SourceSafe Explorer up to date. An automatic refresh can cause a momentary delay, and therefore a network load. If you select this option, specify the refresh interval. If you clear this check box, users can manually refresh the file list by pressing F5, or using Refresh File List on the View menu.
  • File List
Allows you to specify the display for the file and project lists in Visual SourceSafe Explorer.
  • Make selected project the current project
Specifies that Visual SourceSafe should update the current project as you scroll through the project list. This option is usually selected. However, if your network suffers from poor performance, you can deselect this option. In this case, you must select a project and press ENTER, or double-click the project, to make it the current project.
  • Show results pane
Displays or hides the results pane.
  • Show status bar
Displays or hides the status bar, which displays information such as current user name, current sort order for the file list, and number of items in the file list.
  • Show toolbar
    Displays or hides the toolbar.
  • SourceSafe Window
Allows you to define the UI items to show for Visual SourceSafe Explorer.
