Upgrading SharePoint Products and Technologies for Team Foundation Server

After you upgrade from Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server to Visual Studio Team System 2008 Team Foundation Server, you should also consider upgrading the SharePoint Products and Technologies for your project sites. The newer version of Team Foundation Server will still work with Windows SharePoint Services 2.0. However, you can take advantage of the new features for project sites if you also upgrade your SharePoint Products and Technologies to either Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 or Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.

For more information about each of the SharePoint Products and Technologies, see SharePoint Products and Technologies on the Microsoft Web site.

Before You Upgrade SharePoint Products and Technologies

If you are upgrading to Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, see the following topics in Upgrading to Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 on the Microsoft Web site.

  • Plan and prepare for upgrade

  • Perform pre-upgrade steps

If you are upgrading to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, see the following topics in Upgrading to Office SharePoint Server 2007 on the Microsoft Web site.
