For Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R2, there is a procedure for resetting the state of the registry associated with Internet Explorer 6 for Windows Embedded CE . To do this, a .reg file is used.
Registry File
In the Files directory of the Public IE OAK Directory is a .reg file that is named reset.reg. This file contains the settings that can be used to reset the state of the browser. It provides the customizable settings for Internet Explorer that users can modify through user interface interactions. For example, it provides the settings that the user can access through the Internet Options dialog box.
Using the Registry File
The reset.reg file can be used with the provided values. A developer can also create a customized .reg file that has different registry value settings.
To change or create a new .reg file requires a registry editor, such as the Registry Editor that is provided with the Platform Builder IDE. The editor lets you edit a registry file. For more information about how to use an editor, see Using the BIB and REG Editor to Edit a Registry File.
You can also change the registry settings on a thin client by using this method. For more information, see Changing Thin Client Registry Settings.
Note
This process deletes the internal WinInet registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER/RemoteAccess and associated values. This key may have been created by the actions of the user. It is an internally set registry key and should not be modified manually outside WinInet.
