Select or remove a scope for dimension associations

Scoping a source and destination dimension lets you filter what source dimension members will used in the association.

Note

If a destination model has a dimension that does not occur in the source model, we recommend that you create an explicit mapping to a member that is named No member, labeled NONE.

To scope a source and destination dimension

  1. If a source dimension is not mapped, scope the source dimension by clicking the ellipses (…). The Add or remove members to include them in the selection for [dimension].[memberset] dialog box opens.

  2. Scroll through the Available Members list, and then click the check box next to the members that you want to include in the Selected Members list.

If you select the member in the Available Members list, only the member row is selected. You must click the check box next to a member to add or remove that member from the Selected Members list.

  3. When you are finished adding members, click OK. The members appear in the Scope column of the Source dimensions table for the selected source dimension.

  4. If a destination dimension is not mapped, scope it by clicking the ellipses (…). The Add or remove members to include them in the selection for[dimension].[memberset] dialog box opens.

  5. Scroll through the Available Members list, and then click the check box next to the member that you want to include in the Selected Members list. You can select only one member for the destination dimension scope.

  6. When you are finished adding a member, click OK. The member appears in the Scope column of the Destination dimensions table for the selected destination dimension.

To remove a source or destination dimension scope

  1. Select the ellipsis (…) next to the source or destination dimension that you want to change. The Add or remove members to include them in the selection for[dimension].[memberset] dialog box opens.

  2. Perform one of the following steps.

Click a member that has a selected check box that you want to remove from the Available Members list. The selection will be highlighted.

Select from the Remove list and select Remove All to remove all scoped members. The members that are listed in the Selected Members box no longer appear.

  3. When you are finished removing members, click OK. The members no longer appear in the Scope column of the dimensions table for the selected source dimension.
