Synchronize dimensions in Planning Business Modeler

You can synchronize one dimension or all dimensions in a model site. When the specified dimension is synchronized the following actions occur:

  • The referenced dimensions and its related hierarchies are created in the staging database.

  • Troubleshooting columns are added to the new tables.

  • The FK_Relationships table is updated.

To synchronize one dimension

  1. Start Planning Business Modeler.

  2. Connect to the application and model site that you want.

  3. Click Dimensions in the Workspace Browser.

  4. In the Dimensions workspace, click the dimension that you want to synchronize. The Member Maintenance page for that dimension is displayed.

  5. In the Dimension Tasks area, click Synchronize this dimension to Staging Area.

    A warning dialog box appears. It warns of possible data loss and suggests that you back up the staging area.

  6. Click OK to synchronize the dimension.

  7. Repeat steps 4 through 6 for each dimension that you want to synchronize.

    The required structures are created on the staging database. For more information, see About the structure of the staging database.

To synchronize all dimensions in a model site

  1. Start Planning Business Modeler.

  2. Connect to the application and model site that you want.

  3. Click Dimensions in the Workspace Browser.

  4. In the Dimension Tasks area, click Synchronize all dimensions to Staging Area.

    A warning dialog box appears. It warns of possible data loss and suggests that you back up the staging area.

  5. Click OK to synchronize the dimensions.

    The required structures are created on the staging database. For more information, see About the structure of the staging database.

    To synchronize all dimensions in the application, repeat this procedure for every model site in the application.
