Enable access to a model for a business role

By default, a business role cannot access any models, even if the role has been given access to the member sets in a model. Access must be explicitly granted to each applicable model in the model site before users can work with the data according to the permissions defined by the role. You must belong to the Data Administrator or Modeler role to turn on access to a model. In addition, you need to grant Read permissions to every member set that the model contains. For more information about this requirement, see Best practices for business roles.

Note

Model access adds a second layer of security to the permissions defined in the business role. This feature also lets you configure role permissions before letting users access the data.

To enable access to a model

  1. In the Workspace Browser pane, select Security and Roles.

  2. At the top of the Security and Roles workspace, in the View menu, select Business Roles Only.

  3. In the list of roles, click the role whose permissions you want to change. On the Summary page for the role, the Models section lists every model in the model site.

  4. To grant the role access to a model, click the field in the Access column next to the model, and then change access to On.

  5. On the File menu, click Save Model Site to save your changes.
