Prerequisite Software Installations (Team System Web Access)

Before you can successfully install and use Team System Web Access, you must install the prerequisite software, and the prerequisites vary depending on the deployment type. Deploying on an Application-Tier Computer

You must install and configure Team Explorer on the Team Foundation Server application-tier computer before you install Team System Web Access. For information about how to install Team Explorer, see the topic titled "How to: Install Team Explorer" in the Visual Studio Team Foundation Installation guide.

Deploying on a Remote Server

To install Team System Web Access on a server that is not already an application-tier server, you must first install the following software.

  • Internet Information Services (IIS) and ASP.NET. The specific instructions depend on the operating system of the server.

    • Windows Server 2003   See the page titled "How to: Install Internet Information Services 6.0 on Windows Server 2003" in the Visual Studio Team Foundation Installation guide.

    • Windows Server 2008   See the page titled "How to: Install Internet Information Services 7.0 on Windows Server 2008" in the Visual Studio Team Foundation Installation guide.

  • Team Explorer 2008   For information about how to install Team Explorer, see the page titled "How to: Install Team Explorer" in the Visual Studio Team Foundation Installation guide.

Client Computers

A computer that connects to Team Foundation Server through Team System Web Access must run Internet Explorer 6.0 or a later version.
