Endpoint as Media Connectivity Manager

This content is no longer actively maintained. It is provided as is, for anyone who may still be using these technologies, with no warranties or claims of accuracy with regard to the most recent product version or service release.

When a user logs on to a SIP server from outside the enterprise network, media transmission undergoes network address translation (NAT) so packets can traverse across firewalls. Packet firewall traversal requires that an organization configures a media connectivity server within the organization network topology. A Unified Communications Client API client can enable the firewall traversal by specifying one or more media connectivity servers situated within the enterprise network. This management functionality is encapsulated by the IUccMediaEndpointSettings interface. A client can query the IUccMediaEndpointSettings interface on an enabled IUccEndpoint object by calling QueryInterface.
