Administering a Shared Database (Windows Embedded Standard 2009)

System Administrators who are setting up a shared component database must complete these steps before they install the component database.

To administer a shared database

  1. Set the authentication mode of the SQL server to Windows Authentication mode or Mixed mode.

    Note

    Windows Embedded Standard requires Windows Authentication mode. SQL Server supports mixed-mode authentication, which enables both Windows Authentication and SQL Server Authentication. The database installation may prompt you to change to the required authentication mode if the installation was configured for SQL Server Authentication only.

  2. Set up user accounts to access the database.
