Cannot load skin (Devices)

The following errors can occur when you select a file in the Skin box of the Form Factor Properties dialog box.

Message

Typical Causes

Cannot load skin; the XML file cannot be opened

Incorrect file name or path; not truly an XML file; file locked by another process; insufficient user privileges.

Cannot load skin; the image file referred to by the XML file cannot be opened

Any of the above; image is not a BMP or PNG, the only supported image formats; image file is corrupted.

Cannot load skin; the XML file does not contain a valid skin schema

To review valid skin schema details, see the Help menu on the Device Emulator.

To correct this error

  1. Click OK to dismiss the error message box.

  2. In the Form Factor Properties dialog box, select a valid skin file.
