Configure TCP/IP Transport Dialog Box

This page provides options for specifying transport characteristics in device projects.

To display this dialog box, on the Tools menu, click Options, click Device Tools, click Devices, and then click the Configure button adjacent to the Transport box. If the Configure button is unavailable, the selected transport is not configurable.

  • Use fixed port number
    Always uses this port. Select this option when you do not want the Internet Protocol (IP) or port number on your device to change.

  • Obtain an IP address automatically using ActiveSync
    Causes IP settings to be assigned automatically. This setting requires ActiveSync communication between the device and the development computer.

  • Use specific IP address
    Selects an IP address to use. The default address is the local host address.
