Migrating from Store Events

Topic Last Modified: 2007-06-05

Exchange store event sinks are used to build procedures that react to events in the Exchange store. The Notification service provides an alternative to this technology. Store event sinks are de-emphasized in Exchange Server 2007.

Migrating to Exchange Web Services

The Notification service provides the same access to the Exchange store as store event sinks. Tools that are provided by Microsoft Visual Studio streamline the development of store event–aware client applications that use Exchange Web Services. This simplifies the development of store event–aware applications.

Applications that are created by using store event sinksmusto be redesigned to use Exchange Web Services. Consider redesigning custom applications as early as possible as future versions of Microsoft Exchange may not contain store event sinks.
